  •     Exhibitor registration is open for the 2nd Northern Valley Career Expo Nov. 13 at the Grand Forks Alerus Center. Companies in the region are invited to use the event as an opportunity to attract their future workforce by showcasing career opportunities they can offer.
The Expo is designed to educate high school sophomores about opportunities available with northern Red River Valley employers as they begin career exploration. In a survey of students who attended last year’s inaugural expo, 83 percent indicated the Expo increased their interest to pursue a career in the region.
In addition to introductory seminars, students tour a showcase floor where businesses have hands-on exhibits designed to let students experience the type of work they could be doing with companies and the skills necessary to become a future employee.
Unlike a job fair, which focuses on recruiting employees immediately, a career expo is an educational opportunity for students.
Sectors represented through business and industry exhibits include social services, healthcare, manufacturing, business and finance, engineering, and information technology.
