  • Prep volleyball: Wins continue to evade Pirates in Blocktoberfest Tournament

  • The Pirate volleyball team remained winless on the season after four matches Saturday at the Fergus Falls Blocktoberfest and falls to 0-14 on the season.
    Crookston lost 2-0 (25-23, 25-22) to Park Rapids and 2-0 (25-10, 25-10) to Fergus Falls in pool play. The Pirates then lost to Pelican Rapids 2-1 (25-16, 24-26, 15-8) and 2-0 (25-10, 25-13) to Northern Freeze.
    Junior outside hitter Amber Froeber recorded 20 kills, 12 digs and eight blocks in the four matches. Junior libero Kenzie Klatt had 21 digs and 12 assists. Senior Emily Samuelson, junior Shelby Solheim and sophomore Precious Adams each had eight kills. Junior Abby Parr recorded 11 assists and five aces. Sophomore Karlee Meyer finished the day with 18 digs and six aces, while senior Whitney Schear also had six aces.
    Crookston travels to Warroad Tuesday to take on the 2-11 Warriors.
