  • The Pirate girls' soccer team was shut out in the rain Saturday 7-0 by Fergus Falls in Crookston in a Section 8A North match.
    Crookston is now 3-7-1 against section opponents and is tied with Walker-Hackensack-Akeley for fifth place of seven teams in the Section 8A North.
    The Otters scored six goals in the first half and added one in the second. Kathryn Sawtell and Lauren Norgren each had two goals.
    Pirate senior goalkeeper Carly Welter recorded eight saves in the match. Sarah Onstad had one save in goal for Fergus Falls.
    The Pirates fall to 3-8-1 on the season and will host Bemidji today at 4 p.m. The regular season wraps up this week with all home matches with a Thursday match against Moorhead at 4 p.m. and a Saturday match against Hibbing/Chisholm at noon.
    The Section 8A Tournament begins Thursday, Oct. 10 at the site of the higher seed.
