A jury has found a North Dakota man guilty of attacking a tribal security officer with a butter knife.

Thirty-one-year-old Jason Azure, of Belcourt, had pleaded not guilty in federal court to assault with a dangerous weapon.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Authorities say Azure's assault resulted in a cut to the officer's cheek, which required medical treatment.

Sentencing has not been scheduled.
