Looker averaged 12 kills per match as the Golden Eagles went 2-2 in the Superior Oasis Wildcat Open in Marquette, Mich.
Minnesota Crookston outside hitter Brittany Looker (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) was named to the 2013 Superior Oasis Wildcat Open All-Tournament Team. This is Looker’s second-straight All-Tournament selection as she was also named to the Hilltopper-Rattler Classic All-Tournament team after the first weekend of play.
Looker averaged 12 kills per match as the Golden Eagles went 2-2 in the Superior Oasis Wildcat Open in Marquette, Mich. Looker has upped her average to 3.74 kills per match by nearly a kill per set from last season and averaged 3.69 kills per set on the weekend. Looker was one kill of her career high with 19 in a loss to Quincy. She also notched 12 versus Michigan Tech in a win and had 10 against Lake Superior State in a victory. In addition, Looker is just nine kills away from moving into the top 10 all-time for kills at UMC. Janelle Mattson, who competed from 1998-01, is currently in 10th place with 724. The record for career kills is 1,276 and is held by Allison Kluck, who played from 2001-04. Looker also averaged 2.84 digs per match on the weekend, including 13 in a win versus Michigan Tech University.
The Golden Eagles went 2-2 on the tournament with wins over Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State and losses to Northern Michigan University and Quincy University. They finished in a tie for second with Bemidji State University, Michigan Tech and Quincy.
UMC will open up NSIC play this week as they play No. 1 Minnesota Duluth Thur., Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in Duluth, Minn.
