Faulty bearing in mill looks to be the cause; structure damage is minimal and no injuries are reported.
Minimal structural damage and no injuries were reported after Crookston firefighters extinguished a fire early Sunday morning in a beet pellet mill at Crookston's American Crystal Sugar factory.
The call to the CFD came in at 2:12 a.m. Sunday. Beet pellets in a bin and some product outside were on fire upon firefighters' arrival.
Firefighters were on the scene for more than three hours, returning to the station at 5:45 a.m. While battling the blaze, they used more than 24,000 gallons of water.
The likely cause has been traced to a faulty bearing.
