  • Keynote speaker chosen for Crookston Lions 75th anniversary celebration dinner

  •     Brian Sheehan, past international director, will be the keynote speaker at the Lions 75th Anniversary Celebration Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the University of Minnesota Crookston Sargeant Student Center’s Bede Ballroom.
             Sheehan, an outstanding leader in the Lions organization since joining Lions in 1991, was elected in 2011 to serve on the world wide governance body of Lions International.  His Lions career includes over 16 local, district and international assignments, as well as a presenter at numerous Lions events including the USA/Canada forum. 
     
        Sheehan’s distinguished Lions work has been recognized  with over 11 unique awards including the International President’s Medal. He also is active in many local civic organizations in Manitoba including serving as president of the Bird Island Civic and Commerce, Learning Funhouse, and various school committees.  
        In 2011 Sheehan was also awarded the U.S. Small Business Association/Minnesota Small Business Person of the Year Award.
        He is the founder and CEO of Rural Computer Consultants, a software development company.  He and his wife Lori, also a Lion, have two sons and two daughters.
        Meanwhile, Lions President Jerry Amiot has announced the successful recruitment of three additional Lions members, bringing the total to 74 members, with recruiting efforts poised to meet the club goal of 75 members by the 75th anniversary.  
        The three newest members of the Crookston Lions Club include Curt Hamre, director of Riverview Recovery Center (Glenmore), Tim Froeber, Crookston Fire Chief and Jason (J.J.) Vold, Crookston High School Principal.  Curt is sponsored by Duane Anderson.  Tim is sponsored by Sandy Desrosier and Jason is sponsored by Dale Knotek.
