  •     'Legend's Bostons' is a family competitively showing Boston Terriers out of Erskine, Minnesota. Recently Randy Sondrol, Hanna, Jenna and Lisa Wiersma competed at the 2013 Boston Terrier Nationals in Bloomingdale, Illinois.
The dapper black and white dogs are often referred to as "The American Gentleman". Originating in America, they have been described as lively, affectionate, delightful, intelligent, stylish, sturdy, loving, loyal, and most of all an extraordinary companion. They are truly an all American dog, no better dog and no greater companion.
The Boston Nationals are a specialty competition that consists of only Boston Terriers. The competitors range from all across the United States and also included a number from other countries.
Hanna Wiersma led off the 'Legend's Bostons' team by competing in junior showmanship. Hanna placed second in the senior open class. Because Hanna and her mother, Lisa, previously obtained champion and grand champion titles on their dogs, they were able to compete in the Best of Breed competition on the last day of the five day event. With contenders that also competed at the elite Eukanuba and Westminster shows, the competition was fierce and the energy ran high. With each cut the duo made, the excitement level rose. The family was honored to make it to the final round and show against some of the top dogs in the country. Lisa and Hanna felt especially proud as they had been competing against many professional handlers while their dogs have been exclusively owner handled. They didn't take the top honor of Best of Breed. That was awarded to the number one ranked Boston, 'GCH Gunther's Gussied Up Edna'. However, the family was elated to earn the Best of Opposite Sex with 'GCH Rio's Ocho Loco' and an Award of Merit with 'Rio's Dressed to the Nines Dreams'.
Along with their wins, the family received invitations to Crufts in Birmingham, England. Crufts is considered one of the premier dog events in the world. What an honor and accomplishment for being relatively new to the Boston breed and the competitive arena.
The family has also started competing in Canada. They recently completed a Canadian Championship on 'Ocho' with their last attendance at the Regional and National Boston Specialties and the Purina Nationals in Calgary, Canada.
'Legend's Bostons' plans to have titles on both sides of their dog's names by also competing in performance events. Jenna Wiersma has started training in agility and is working toward competing to earn performance titles. In the meantime, she provides ringside photography services and has had her photos published in issues of "Doberman Digest" and "E-Boston".
