Services will be Thursday August 22 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fisher Lutheran Church in Fisher, MN.

Elroy H. Kleven, age 83, of Fargo, ND (formerly of Fisher, MN) died Friday, August 16, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo.  Elroy was born on February 20, 1930 in Crookston, son of Hartvig and Elinora (Erickson) Kleven.  He grew up and attended country school at Fisher, MN, through the fifth grade and then the Fisher School through tenth grade, until he joined his father farming the family farm as a young man.  He loved the land and continued to farm over the years until retiring in the early 1980’s.  He and his cousin, Marlan, harvested crops together on their respective farms for many years.  He continued to live on the farm after retiring and then moved to Grand Forks where he lived for a time, before moving to Fargo ten years ago.

Elroy enjoyed trips to the Lake of the Woods fishing.  He was a member of the Masons, the Shriners (Kem Temple in Grand Forks and El Zagal Temple in Fargo), the Scottish Rite, the Elks, the Eagles and the Sons of Norway.  He enjoyed spending time with friends.

Elroy is survived by his three daughters: Linda Makaruk of Noonan, GA, Susan (Glenn) Johnson of Mayville, ND, and Laurie (Brian) Kleven Henke of Racine, MN; seven grandchildren: Ryan Makaruk, Melissa Dufresne, Emily Makaruk, Garth Johnson, Grace Johnson, Logan Johnson and Lance Johnson; four great-grandchildren: Caleb Makaruk, Rylie Makaruk, McKenzie Dufresne and Matthew Dufresne.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Hartvig and Elinora Kleven.

Elroy’s funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Fisher Lutheran Church, Fisher, MN.  Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston on Wednesday from 5-7 PM, with a Masonic service at 6:30 PM and a 7 PM prayer service, also visitation at the church for one hour prior to the funeral.  Interment will be in the Fisher Lutheran Cemetery.
