  • The veteran's recognition ceremony Friday afternoon at Kiehle Auditorium was definitely a tear jerker.
LTC Chad Sackett gave the keynote address and thanked all those being recognized. He even thanked the veterans in the audience "for everything you've done for all of us". Sackett added that the Vietnam veterans were never given a proper welcome home like those coming back from deployment today, so he gave a heartfelt, "Welcome back".
There were four presenters for those honored Friday.
Bill Reynolds started things off by telling Jim Buckmiller's amazing story and then presented him with a plaque.
Loren Johnson began Curt Hendrickson's story by saying, "he was honored to be presenting for Curt" and jokingly added that he "hoped he was back in the will".
Caesar Kaiser got the audience choked up when he thanked James Kaiser for being his best friend.
Bill Cassavant ended the event by singing Doug Qualley's praises.
The event ended sooner than expected, but it was one for the memory books.
