  • Two vulnerable adults who were judged to be in need of a public administrator to oversee their financial affairs are suing Grand Forks County, claiming they were fleeced by two county officials.
The attorney representing Faith Krueger and Paul Veum says they are missing hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and assets and that the county is liable.
County attorney Howard Swanson says it isn't clear that any assets are missing and that if they are, the county isn't responsible.
The Grand Forks Herald reports that in a separate action, county officials are fighting with state insurance officials over whether the state should play claims made by the county for alleged improper actions by the same public administrator and her assistant.
No criminal charges have been filed.
