A 55-year-old Eveleth man died Sunday in a motorcycle-truck collision on U.S. Highway 53 near Eveleth.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that James Davey was riding a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on Highway 53 just before 3 p.m. when it struck an eastbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was crossing the highway.
The motorcycle struck the front of the truck. Davey was transported to St. Luke’s hospital in Duluth before he died of his injures, the patrol reported; he was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the truck, Jesse Hiti, 20, of Eveleth, was not injured.
Neither driver had alcohol in their system, the Patrol reported.
