He'll perform Friday, Saturday at downtown Grand Forks restaurant.
Crookston singer/songwriter and guitarist Anthony Diaz, who won a competition in April to be the opening act at a Ted Nugent, REO Speedwagon and Styx concert at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, has finished production on his first CD.
"It's a stepping stone to raise money for real studio time," Diaz told the Times.
Diaz has sought to raise his musical profile by performing in bars and lounges up and down the Red River Valley. His latest gig is a two-night affair at Sanders 1907 restaurant in downtown Grand Forks. He'll perform Friday and Saturday, July 26-27 from 9 p.m. to midnight.
"This is a big opportunity; some of the best bands from the area play there," said the 30-year-old Crookston High School and University of Minnesota Crookston graduate.
In addition, Diaz said a Thief River Falls radio station will help him promote his CD as part of his upcoming performance at Thief River Falls Rivervest on Saturday, Aug. 3. After that, it's back to Crookston, where Diaz is scheduled to perform as part of the Summer Reading Program at the library, on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
