Leland “Pat” Martin, age 55, of Crookston, MN, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday morning, July 21, 2013 of natural causes. Pat was born to Leonard and Lorna (Clark) Martin in Jamestown, ND on August 26, 1957. As a youngster he moved with his family to Hugo, MN, near St. Paul, where he spent the next seven years of his life. When he was ten years old the family relocated to Cathay, ND, where Pat attended high school. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of seventeen, and spent the next 4 years traveling the world. Following his honorable discharge Pat returned home and soon began employment as a boiler operator at United Hospital in Grand Forks.
In December of 1980 he moved to Crookston and worked in plant services at Riverview Hospital. He was united in marriage to Marsha Ramsey at Crookston in November of 1981, and together the couple raised two children, Heather and Matthew. Pat was a lifetime member of the NRA, and a former member of the Crookston American Legion. He was passionate about riding his motorcycle and “letting the wind blow through his hair.” The great outdoors, fishing and hunting, were favorite pastimes, and he was known as an expert marksman. First and foremost in Pat’s life was always his family. Marsha, his “boy”, his “girl”, and his precious grandchildren meant the world to him, and he would do anything for them.
