The Crookston Legion baseball team's season came to a close Tuesday, falling 4-2 to Fosston, despite the best effort of Aaron Hollcraft, who had 16 strikeouts.
Crookston's lefty ace allowed three hits but walked six in the loss.
Zach Sather got the win for Fosston, pitching seven innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits and five walks. He struck out nine.
Fosston jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings before Crookston scored two runs in the fifth inning. Luke Edlund, Chris Wavra and Cody Magsam led off the inning with walks and two runs scored on fielder's choice groundouts by Joey Koenig and Hollcraft.
That was all the offense Crookston could muster as Sather limited the Crookston team to three hits, each in a different inning.
Hollcraft, Koenig and Seth Desrosier recorded base hits.
Crookston's season ends at 5-10. Standout catcher Josh Edlund did not play as he is practicing for the North Dakota Shrine Bowl, which will be played Saturday, July 20.
