Survey is featured in July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine
RiverView Health was recently recognized as one of the nation's Most Wired hospitals and health care systems, according to the results of the 2013 Most Wired Survey released in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.
The nation's Most Wired hospitals are leveraging the adoption and use of health information technology (IT) to improve performance in a number of areas, according to Health Care's Most Wired 2013.
As a field, hospitals are focused on expanding and adopting IT that protects patient data, and optimizes patient flow and communications.
One Chart puts RiverView over the top
This year marks the 15th anniversary of Health Care’s Most Wired Survey, but this is RiverView’s first year as an applicant and now award-winner.
Chris Bruggeman, vice president of Operations at RiverView, said he believes RiverView was awarded in large part due to implementation of One Chart, an electronic medical record implemented at RiverView July 1, 2012. This technology is recognized as one of the best known, most widely adopted health information systems in the country.
“This is a great accomplishment for RiverView Health and it is truly the hard work of the entire organization that made it possible,’’ said Bruggeman. “Technology changes have impacted almost every employee in the past few years and our team has risen to the challenges; we have made great strides in utilizing technology to help us provide safe, effective health care.’’
The Most Wired honor is awarded to hospitals and health care systems that have made headway in establishing the basic building blocks for creating robust clinical information systems aimed at improving patient care. This includes adopting technologies to improve patient documentation, advance clinical decision support and evidence-based protocols, reduce the likelihood of medication errors, and rapidly restore access to data in the case of a disaster or outage.
