Corners were a passion of the late Kari Thompson.

The Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee is comprised of 16 individuals dedicated to improving and enhancing the look of Crookston.

One of the focus items for this year has been the “Adopt a Corner” program.  Several years ago when the downtown sidewalks were redone, these corners were installed and planted throughout downtown. This became a pet project of one of the Beautification Committee co-founders, the late Kari Thompson.

Since the Beautification Committee has re-formed, getting these planters “adopted” has been an ongoing passion for the group.  Through early spring into summer, the committee has been working with businesses, groups and individuals to take on a planter and to nurture, love and transform it.  Many have stepped up to claim a corner of Crookston’s downtown. Nell DeBoer, committee chair, would like to thank, on behalf of the committee, the following for their commitment to adopting a planter:

• Riverview Health

• Bremer Bank

• American Federal Bank

• Thrifty White

• Erickson Embroidery

• Shirley Seddon Iverson and Diane Seddon in memory of Dick and Dorothy Seddon

• UMC  College in the High School

• UMC Horticulture club

• Christensen Tree Service

There are still some corners planters available for adoption, the cost is $30, which pays for the sign.  If you, are interested, call Shannon Stassen at the Chamber office at 281-4320
