Anyone interested is encouraged to attend 7 p.m. meeting.

An organizational meeting for a potential all-school reunion in Crookston next year has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 23 at 7 p.m. at the Crookston Eagles. At Large Crookston City Council Member Wayne Melbye encourages anyone who’s interested in hearing more, and possibly interested in helping make it happen, to attend the meeting.

There were some initial discussions about having such an event this summer instead, Melbye said, but then the decision was made to wait until 2014, when there are more local lodging options available. Cobbletone Hotel is currently under construction, Crookston Inn & Convention Center is currently being renovated, AmericInn Lodge & Suites is planning an expansion, and the Golf Terrace Motel is an option as well.

So next year’s big event will be held during Ox Cart Days, right? After all, that’s when most high school reunions are held.

Nope, Melbye said. “We’re kind of shooting for the end of June,” he told the Times, adding that the hope is to give people more than one reason in the summer to come back to Crookston.
