Federal reimbursement will rise, too, as a result.

The Crookston School Board this week approved a five-cent increase for the 2013-14 school year across the board on the price of breakfast and lunch.

Elementary students paying full price will now pay $1.25 for breakfast and $2.35 for lunch. High school students paying full price will pay $1.50 for breakfast and $2.45 for lunch. Elementary and high school students on the free and reduced meal plan will still receive breakfast free of charge. The lunch price for students of any age on the reduced plan is 45 cents.

Explaining the increase, Business Manager Laura Lyczewski said the district is required to complete a price equity form that actually indicated a six-cent increase was appropriate. "But we rounded down to five cents," she said.

With the increase, the school district will receive an additional half-cent per-meal federal reimbursement, Lyczewski said.
