The Crookston Chamber will continue the Block Party series with Crookston’s 29th Annual Customer Appreciation Day Thursday, June 20 at Crookston Sports Center, featuring a free meal, catered by RBJ’s Restaurant. Food serving by volunteers from sponsoring businesses will commence at 5 p.m. and continue until supplies last. Complementary meal tickets are available at dozens of sponsoring businesses.
A number of Crookston businesses will be on hand to demonstrate their products and services. Also, enter the Hula-Hoop contest to try to win a water bottle.
Every Thursday the Chamber organizes a Walk the Block Scavenger Hunt. Find the Chamber “C” logo at a minimum of three of the participating businesses and you could win a four pack of Chamber can koozies.
Each week the Chamber hosts a “Minute to Win It” game as part of the block party. The first four to successfully complete the “Egg Roll” will win a Chamber can koozie.
The Block Party series continues each Thursday through the summer, with the exception of July 4. For more information, go to visitcrookston.com/blockparties.
Salesperson not endorsed by Chamber
Chamber President/CEO Shannon Stassen wants to alert Chamber members and the community that a salesperson making calls in the community selling maps and/or calendars has not been endorsed by the Crookston Chamber, as he is apparently claiming.
"It happens from time to time, and we always turn those folks away," Stassen told the Times. They'll usually offer us 10 percent or something on their sales, but we always decline because our members get hit."
