The Minnesota Crookston men’s basketball program added 10 signees to their 2013 signing class as announced by head coach Jeff Oseth Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Eagles signed seven student-athletes to National Letters of Intent while three more signed Offers of Admission to play for the UMC men’s basketball team. Ibrahim Cisse (F, 6-6 195, Plymouth, Minn.), Kashif Hayes (G, 5-10 170, Minneapolis, Minn.), Sam Howell (G, 6-3 195, Seattle, Wash.), Giorgi Koguashvili (G, 6-5 190, Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia), Kevin Larson (G, 6-2 180, New Ulm, Minn.), Lucas Reller (G, 6-0 190, Lead, S.D.) and Tyler West Jr. (F, 6-6 200, Portland, Ore.) all signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball at UMC.
“I really like this recruiting class,” said Oseth. “We were able to sign some players we feel that can come right in and make an immediate impact. In addition, we were able to bring in some players that are going to be solid players as they progress over time. We were able to bring in guys that are coachable, good team guys and skilled in the positions that they play. From a coaching standpoint what I like most about this group is that they are versatile players. They can play a number of different spots on the floor which can create match-up problems for opposing defenses.”
Austin Dierks (F, 6-5, Chokio, Minn.), Omar El Manasterly (F, 6-8, Richmond, Texas) and Cyrus Moore-Brown (G, 6-1 180, Golden Valley, Minn.) all signed Offers of Admission to play for the Golden Eagles.
“These three men will be great additions to our basketball team,” Oseth said. “All three are talented players and we are looking forward to working with them.”
The 10 new UMC signees join Konner Goettsche (F, 6-6 205, Plymouth, Minn.) and Alec Koepp (F/C, 6-7 205, Belle Plaine, Minn.) who signed with the Golden Eagles in November, as incoming members of the Golden Eagle men’s basketball team.
UMC also returns five players off last season’s roster led by returning starter Brandon Burns (Sr., F, Baton Rouge, La.). Burns joins Ashton Harrell (Sr., G, Houston, Texas), Tim Lubke (Jr., G, St. Paul, Minn.), Tomas Parker (Jr., F/C, Pequot Lakes, Minn.) and Derrick Redd, Jr. (So., G, Menifee, Calif.) as Golden Eagle returnees. Harrell led the team averaging 10.0 points per game last season while Burns was second on the squad with 9.3 points per contest. The 2012-13 Golden Eagle season was highlighted by an upset victory over No. 22 St. Cloud State University.
