Pirates earn the Academic All-state silver award

Pirate senior first baseman Brandon Kresl has been named to the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association (MSHSBCA) Academic All-State Team, while the Pirates, as a team, were named Academic All-State Silver award winner.

Also, Pirate senior pitcher and outfielder Josh Edlund and sophomore pitcher and outfielder Aaron Hollcraft were each selected to the All-Section 8AA Team.

Kresl, who is signed to play for Minnesota Crookston next season, batted .317 in 21 games this season. He led the team with 17 RBIs.

Edlund batted. 397 in 21 games with a team high 12 stolen bases and eight RBIs. He started eight games on the mound, finishing with a 5.55 earned run average and one complete game.

Hollcraft batted .441 in 21 games, leading the team in hits (30) and runs scored (26). He started seven games and went the distance in five of them, posting a 4-3 record. Hollcraft recorded a 2.19 earned run average and had 67 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings.
