Thunderstorms stunted the 2nd round to 9 holes Wednesday

The State Class AA Golf Tournament was trimmed to nine holes for Wednesday's second round at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn. due to thunderstorms in the morning. Crookston junior Brady Heppner carded a 42 and finished tied for 44th for the tournament.

Heppner shot a 78 in Tuesday's round and finished the tournament with a 120.

Delano senior Jordan Peters, who led after round one, hung on to earn medalist honors with a 104.

Staples-Motley topped back-to-back defending champion Detroit Lakes, Crookston's Section 8AA rival, by seven strokes for the team title.

On the girls' side, Section 8AA's Detroit Lakes won by 31 strokes with co-medalists Natalie Roth and Kate Smith both shooting 108. Smith, a freshman, was last year's medalist.
