On Monday, May 27, 2013, the Crookston Veteran's Council will once again sponsor the annual Memorial Day programming.
The day's events begin with a gathering at the Crookston American Legion at 7:30 a.m. to board the bus, which leaves at 8:30 a.m. for Hafslo Luthern Church Cemetery at 8:20 a.m. Following a visit to St. Peter's Catholic Church, in Gentilly, at 9 a.m., participants will be bused to RBJ's Restaurant for a coffee break at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Events at Oakdale Cemetery, in Crookston, are slated to begin at 10 a.m. and will consist of a flag raising, music, poetry, a special address by Kurt Philion of Philco's Freedom team, recognition of Gold Star Mothers, and grave decorating. Following the program at Oakdale Cemetery, the bus will transport attendees to the Sampson's Addition Bridge for a naval service at 11 a.m.
Noon will bring a visit to Sand Hill Lutheran Church followed by travels to the Crookston Memorial Walkway at 12:45 p.m. Lunch will be served for participants at 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 20 location in Crookston.
The Crookston Veteran's Council invites all to attend. The Council consists of members of the American Legion Post 20, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1902 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14.
