  • Boys' tennis: 8A Tourney postponed to Thursday, Pirates to face Green Wave in Perham

  • The Section 8A Boys' Tennis Tournament has been postponed to Thursday at 10 a.m. in Perham.
    Originally scheduled for today in Perham, the constant rain has forced the postponement.
    Crookston, the No. 2 seed, will face No. 3 East Grand Forks Thursday. The Green Wave beat Park Rapids 7-0 Monday at Choice Health & Fitness in Grand Forks.
    Thief River Falls, the top seed, will face No. 4 Detroit Lakes, who beat Wadena-Deer Creek/Perham 4-3 Monday at Courts Plus Fitness Center in Fargo.
    The first and quarterfinal rounds of the singles and doubles tournaments will be held Thursday in Perham, while the semifinal and final rounds will be Tuesday, May 28 in Perham.
    Senior Sean Williams and eighth grader Matt Garmen will compete in the singles tournament for Crookston, while senior Travis Vatthauer and freshman Bobby Tiedemann will compete as a doubles team along with seniors Ethan Mercil and Cody Genereux. Both Pirate doubles teams have first round byes.
