Bismarck police said a cleaning crew heard someone calling for help in the ceiling over the pool tables at O'Brien's Tavern on Nov. 5.

A man who was arrested for burglary after he became trapped in the ventilation system in a Bismarck bar has been sentenced to more than a year in prison.

Bismarck police said a cleaning crew heard someone calling for help in the ceiling over the pool tables at O'Brien's Tavern on Nov. 5. Police found 26-year-old Caleb Belile upside down. Emergency workers were able to free Belile in about 45 minutes.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/10DhrmP ) that surveillance tape showed the suspect crawling into the ventilation system.

Judge Cynthia Feland sentenced Belile to 18 months in prison and ordered him to pay $1,000 in restitution.

Defense attorney Tom Glass says Belile was stuck for nine hours. Glass says it's "somewhat of a minor miracle he lived through that."
