Headwaters of the Mississippi River are a bit chilly this spring.
Itasca State Park camping trips started last week for Highland School sixth graders. Each of the four classes spends one night sleeping in tents and two days touring the park.
This is the 39th year students have had this opportunity. One of the highlights of every field trip is crossing the Headwaters of the Mississippi River. There was still ice on Lake Itasca for some of the earliest campers, making the trek across this year a very cold one.
