On April 17th, Crookston Public School reviewed results of the Values Definition work sessions that were held with school board, administration, teachers, staff, students, and public in early March. The summary was led by representatives from Johnson Controls.
The information outlined clearly demonstrates that stakeholder
groups in our school district share many of the same ideas about the future of our district.
The main district areas of need identified were:
• Stay current and update technology as needed
• Proactively identify and resolve school facility problems
• Maintain or improve Student Staff Ratio / Increase Student Achievement.
• Investigate the expansion of course offering opportunities for all students
Recommendations provided: 1) Continue to communicate with our district stakeholders about the process as we move forward to
improve our facilities, 2) Use the information gathered from the Values Definition work sessions to help guide District Goals and any
facility improvement process.
Our work with Johnson Controls has been valuable the past few months as we look to an opportunity to improve our school facilities. Johnson Controls has a strong track record of
helping other local school districts, as well as school districts across the state of Minnesota, address many of the facility and educational issues that currently challenge Crookston
As a school district, our needs are by no means unique. Johnson
Controls role is to help the district with the initial planning, help with the design of any identified improvements, and assist with
financial modeling up to and possibly including the implementation of those improvements.
Later in May, we will begin to gain more information in regards to solutions that may help address the issues outlined in the Values
Definition work sessions. We will then begin to further develop a long range improvement plan for Crookston Schools.
