PTO decides to expand beyond Teacher Appreciation Week.
Typically, the first week of May is recognized as Teacher Appreciation Week. But in Crookston, the Washington and Highland Parent/Teacher Organizations decided that school staffs in general should be recognized, so for the first time “Staff Appreciation Week” is being celebrated this week.
According to PTO member Leah Winjum, students and parent volunteers have organized numerous “simple gestures” throughout the week to show staff how much they’re appreciated. Local massage therapists are providing free massages to staff, students are writing messages to their favorite staff members, and just about every day features some kind of treat.
