Moorhead's Mandy Boyle ran away with medalist honors with a 79 at the par 72 course.

The Pirate girls' golf team opened its season Monday at Headwaters Golf Club in the Park Rapids Invitational. Crookston, led by sophomore Abby Parr's 107, placed eighth out of 12 teams.

Bemidji won the event by nine strokes over Roseau and Moorhead's Mandy Boyle ran away with medalist honors with a 79 at the par 72 course.

Seventh grader Ally Tiedemann came in with a 110, while senior Kelly Reitmeier carded a 114 and junior Amber Trostad posted a 117 to round out the Pirate team score. Senior Erica Samuelson shot a 118, while freshman Leah Trostad had a 121.

The Pirates are competing in the Red Lake Falls Invitational today at Oak Knolls Golf Club.
