A Minnesota Senate committee is giving a last look at the bill to legalize gay marriage before full House and Senate votes that could come soon.
The Senate Finance Committee is planning to review the gay marriage bill's fiscal impact on Tuesday morning. A fiscal analysis finds it would add small costs to state employee health insurance costs but also generate revenue from an expected spike in marriage licenses.
The House Ways and Means Committee held a similar hearing Monday night and approved the bill on a voice vote. It could come up for debate and vote in the full House or Senate as early as this week as supporters look to add Minnesota to the growing list of states where gay couples can legally wed.
