  • A 49-year-old Moorhead, Minn., man has been sentenced in North Dakota to life in prison on a federal charge of conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says Raul Tovar was found guilty by a 12-person jury in January of conspiracy and aiding and abetting. U.S. District Judge Ralph R. Erickson sentenced him on Wednesday.
Purdon says Moorhead police officers were investigating a drug trafficking organization in the Fargo-Moorhead area. A motel room in Moorhead led to the arrest of one man, who said he was obtaining the drugs from Tovar.
