Officers were able to extinguish the flames but not before the man suffered serious burns.

Authorities in northwestern North Dakota's McKenzie County say a man tried to kill himself with fire.

Officers who responded to a call of a suicidal man in a pickup truck outside a Watford City bar on Sunday say the man poured gasoline on himself and started it on fire.

The Williston Herald reports (http://bit.ly/11x0qN2 ) that officers were able to extinguish the flames but not before the man suffered serious burns. He was taken to a Minneapolis burn hospital.

Authorities did not immediately identify the man or release his condition.
