  • The dash for trash is back on track in North Dakota's largest city.
Fargo officials last week moved the annual spring cleanup week from May to September after the National Weather Service warned residents to prepare for record Red River flooding.
But a drastic drop in the expected crest and complaints from residents convinced city commissioners to reconsider. On Monday they voted to return to the original schedule of May 6-10.
The event allows residents to put items on the curb for free pickup by garbage crews.
The weather service has revised the expected peak of the river from nearly 41 feet to about 35 feet, which is 17 feet above flood stage but unlikely to cause significant damage.
The river was measured at 32.34 feet at 10 p.m. Monday.
