  •  A 39-year-old Williston woman is charged with neglecting her child after police say she left her cognitively impaired 10-year-old boy to guard a camper from intruders while she went to take a shower.
Williams County District Judge Joshua Rustad last week found enough probable cause to send Carrie Tyler to trial on the charge of child neglect or abuse. The charge stems from a Feb. 25 incident in which Tyler's landlord called police and reported that the boy had been abandoned.
A police officer talked to the boy, whose clothes were soiled. The Williston Herald reports that the boy told investigators that he needed to guard the camper so that "drunks and druggies" wouldn't break in (http://bit.ly/16dJUYj ).
