Residents in the Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., area who have languished through cold weather and the latest spring flood in history have received some uplifting news.
Some golf courses in the area are opening.
The Meadows and Village Green, two public golf courses in Moorhead, are opening their driving ranges at 9 a.m. Saturday. The course at Village Green was ready for play at 10 a.m. Sunday.
A starting date for The Meadows course is not set.
Residents in the area are preparing for a Red River flood crest between 37 and 39 feet, which would be about 20 feet above the point when the river spills its banks. It is affecting a couple of hundred Fargo residents.
The two courses in Moorhead are located away from the river.
