  • This weekend, Saturday morning specifically, brought a very rapid rise of the Red Lake River in Crookston, which was triggered by ice jams. The river approached a depth of 23 feet Saturday morning, which flooded Central Park, before the ice gave way and the river began a slow decline.
Ever since, National Weather Service hydrologists have been decreasing their Red Lake River crest forecast for Crookston, with the latest crest expected to be 19.4 feet Wednesday into Thursday. At mid-afternoon Monday, the river’s slow drop was continuing, with the level at 18.65 feet.
Rain is forecast for tonight, and the rest of the week is expected to bring temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
