  • The Red Lake River is on the rise as the ice melts. It has rapidly overflowed its banks, flooding Crookston's Central Park.
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks predicts the river will crest at 25.5 feet sometime between this evening and Sunday morning. Already at 22.37 feet, as of Saturday morning, the Red Lake River is well above its flood stage of 15 feet.
So far, the city appears to be protective by the expansive dike system put in place in the past few years.
