Proceeds go toward purchase of AEDs for law enforcement.

Allen Chesley, president of the Polk County TRIAD, Crookston chapter, announces the rescheduled annual “Taste of Italy” Dinner sponsored by Polk County TRIAD for Saturday, April 27 at the Crookston American Legion from 5 to 7 p.m.

Dinner consisting of green salad anti-pasta, porketta, stuffed pasta shells, parmesan green beans, Italian bread and spumoni ice cream for dessert will be served by the Polk County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, Crookston Police Reserves and Crookston Police Officers.  Entertainment will be provided during the meal.  All ingredients are made from authentic Italian recipes, according to Bernadette Motherway, the guest chef for the evening.

A fresh bake sale will also be held during the evening and anyone wishing to donate fresh baked goods is asked to have their products at the American Legion by 2 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner are available from TRIAD Board members, at the door, at the Crookston Chamber office or at the Golden Link Senior Center.  Tickets are priced at $10 each for adults, $7 for UMC Students and children five and under are free.

Proceeds from the dinner are used to purchase Automatic Electric Defibrillators (AED’s) for Law Enforcement.  Taste of Italy dinners have raised over $11,000 over the years and have enabled TRIAD to purchase AEDs for Crookston Police and Polk County Sheriff squad cars and the Crookston Golden Link Senior Center.  The defibrillators are used in case of heart attacks to sustain the heart patient until ambulance service can arrive.  The defibrillators are compatible with ambulance equipment.  An AED will be on display at the dinner.

Polk County TRIAD is  a three-way effort of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Crookston Police Department, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) along with AARP and concerned citizens.  TRIAD works to reduce victimization of senior citizens and focuses on reducing fear of crime by educating seniors and improving their quality of life.

Programs and information on TRIAD will be available at the dinner.
