A memorial will be held at Valley Christian Fellowship in Crookston on Saturday, April 20 at 3 p.m.

Christopher Cruz Navar of Crystal City, Texas was born April 19,1981 and was robbed of his earthly life on April 6, 2013 at the age of 31. Chris loved his family, friends and music.    He was an accomplished guitar player and vocalist who recently helped to pioneer open mic night on Sundays at Crooks Club in Crookston.

Chris was also a barber’s apprentice. He took great pride in cutting hair for his family and friends in Red Lake Falls, Crookston and Crystal City. Chris enjoyed cooking authentic Mexican dishes, sketching portraits, dancing, and fishing at Maple Lake and in the rivers of Red Lake Falls. Throughout his adult life, Chris worked as a landscaper, construction worker and most recently as a railroad mechanic.

Although he was taken away from us, his untimely death will not rob us of his spirit and all the joy he shared with us. We know Chris would not want his death to be in vain, that we should all learn to follow the Lord’s example on this earth, so that senseless tragedies such as this would not occur.
