It's a wild animal, Motherway says, not a pet.
The Crookston Police Department is warning people to stay away from the moose that is hanging around the edge of Crookston. "This is a wild animal and may be dangerous if you get too close," CPD Chief Tim Motherway said.
The CPD has been working with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources on monitoring the moose's whereabouts and both agencies are hoping the young animal will move on. However, the moose has come into residential areas, where it becomes a safety concern.
"We don't want anyone getting too close to the moose or startling it in some way," Motherway said. "People need to remember this is a wild animal, not a pet."
