The Minnesota Crookston softball team fell 10-0 and 7-5 to Sioux Falls Monday afternoon at the Morningside Little League Complex in Sioux City, Iowa. The games were moved to Sioux City, Iowa due to unplayable field conditions in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Golden Eagles drop to 2-27 (1-17 NSIC) with the pair of losses. Sioux Falls improves to 13-17 (8-8 NSIC) with the pair of victories.
Paige Schaust (Jr., OF/P, Delano, Minn.) would get the game one start for the Golden Eagles and would struggle overall, giving up 10 runs, eight of them earned, on eight hits in three innings pitched. Schaust falls to 1-12 on the season with Monday’s loss.
Bailey Bouman would get the win for the Cougars after going five innings and giving up no earned runs on five hits.
The UMC bats were led in the first game by Alexis Khoshaba (Fr., 1B/OF, Richmond, British Columbia), who was 2-for-2.
In game two, Marcum would get the start for the Golden Eagles in the circle and would go three-and-a-third innings, giving up five earned runs on six hits. Marcum would get the loss for UMC.
Walters got the win for Sioux Falls in game two after giving up five earned runs on six hits in six-and-a-third innings. Bouman would get the save for the Cougars.
The Golden Eagles are set to return to action April 17 against University of Minnesota Duluth. The games will be played at the West St. Paul Sports Center in West St. Paul, Minn due to inclement weather. UMC has still as of yet played a home game 29 games into the season.
