The Golden Eagles finish ninth out of 12 teams in conference tournament.
Minnesota Crookston sophomore men’s golfer Jesse Roscoe (Big Stone City, S.D.) placed sixth overall as the Golden Eagles finished in ninth place at the 2012-13 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships on the Outlaw Course at Paradise Pointe in Smithville, Mo. The Golden Eagles shot a team score of 1299 over four rounds of the tournament to finish ninth out of 12 teams. The first two rounds of the tournament were played in the fall at the Classic at Madden’s on Gull Lake in Brainerd, Minn., while the final two rounds were played Sat., April 13 and Sun., April 14 in Smithville, Mo.
After one of the best rounds of the day Saturday, Roscoe struggled a bit Sunday to turn in a fourth round score of 81, which is nine-over par, to finish the tournament 23-over par, seven strokes back from the tournament individual champion Kowan O’Keefe of Minot State. His score would give him a sixth-place finish.
Matt McClure (So., Grand Rapids, Minn.) shot a 79 in round four to finish the tournament in a tie for 23rd place. Seth Heppner (So., Crookston, Minn.) shot an 80 on day four to finish in a tie for 39th place at the tournament. Michael Roedl (R-Fr., Minneapolis, Minn.) turned in an 84 to finish in 49th place. Blake Held (So., Cold Spring, Minn.), who rejoined the team for the second half of the season, did not compete in the first and second rounds of the tournament, but shot an 80 on day three and an 86 on day four.
