Pack 44 tradition takes place at the armory.

Cub Scout Pack 44 of Crookston held their annual Pinewood Derby Car Race at the Crookston National Guard Armory on Sunday, April 7.

Cub Scouts, with the help of their parents or trusted adult, build a race car. The Scouts are given a kit which includes a block of wood, four plastic wheels, and four metal axels. The Scout then shapes and paints the car how he would like to get it ready for race day. The Scouts have to build their car to specific requirements, which includes a specific weight limit, length, and width.

Over 130 Scouts, Scout Leaders, Siblings to Scouts, Parents to Scouts and Grand Parents to scouts came out to the race.

The event started with the unveiling of the new track and timer.  The track was purchased by the pack from funds provided by various sponsors around town.
We handed out awards for the fastest car in each den along with the fastest car in the Pack overall.

Tiger Cub Den Fastest Car – Gabriel Noah
Wolf Cub Den Fastest Car – Dalton Delude
Bear Cub Den Fastest Car – George French
Webelos Den Fastest Car – Sebastian Kromschroeder
Overall Fastest Car in Pack – Luke Noah

With the new track and timer we are able to establish a single run track time and speed record.  This was set by Webelos Scout Gavin Haskett.

We also had non-speed related awards that awarded scouts for their creativity and workmanship of their car.
Best Scout Theme – Wylee Nesdahl
Best Vehicle Not a Car – George French
Most like a Real Car – Landon Kraft
    Most Patriotic – Wylee Nesdahl
