A 22-year-old man from Brampton has been formally charged in what authorities say was a hit-and-run death in southeastern North Dakota over the weekend.
Dakota Sutton is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death. The felony charge carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison upon conviction.
Court documents do not list an attorney for Sutton, and a home telephone listing for him could not immediately be found. He is due in court April 17.
The Highway Patrol says Sutton was driving a pickup truck that hit 28-year-old Reavis Dandridge, of Oakes, on a rural, gravel road in Sargent County about 3 a.m. Sunday. Dandridge was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Oakes.
