  • Isaac Loegering, 18, of Crookston wrapped up the National YMCA Short Course Meet in Greensboro, N.C. this weekend by placing 34th in the 100-yard freestyle Saturday.
"In this event I've always struggled to swim the second half of this race as strong as the first half," said Loegering. "Taking off over a second in the 100 was a great way to end my high school swimming career."
On Wednesday, Loegering placed 24th in the 50-yard freestyle.
"I was happy to finally make finals. It has been my goal for the past three years," he told the Times.
He also competed in the 100-yard butterfly and 10-yard breaststroke but did not advance out of the time trials.
"Breaststroke isn't my strongest race, but I dropped two seconds and nearly broke our team record," Loegering explained.
