Fargo-area hardware stores are stocking up on flood supplies in anticipation of an unruly Red River this spring.
KVLY-TV reports that stores are putting items such as semi-automatic sump pumps on the shelves (http://bit.ly/14RvGMb ). Other big sellers include generators and drain plugs that inflate to provide water-tight seals.
The National Weather Service has given a 50 percent chance that the river in Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., will reach 38 feet. That would make it one of the top five floods in its history. Volunteers are in the midst of a 10-day campaign to fill a million sandbags at Sandbag Central.
