The Golden Eagles and Marauders played toe-to-toe in the first game, knotted at 4-4 heading into the fifth inning, but U-Mary would add a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to pick up the victory.
Paige Schaust (Jr., OF/P, Delano, Minn.) got the start in game one against the Marauders and went six innings, eventually giving up seven earned runs on nine hits. U-Mary got just four runs on five hits through the first four innings but would add three runs on four hits in the final two innings as Schaust would suffer the loss to fall to 1-7 on the year.
Cherlyn Trujillo would get the win for U-Mary after going seven innings and giving up four runs, only one of them earned, on nine hits.
UMC was led in game one by Bridge, who was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one run batted in. U-Mary was paced by Alvarado, who went 3-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.
In game two, Cateline Fafard (Jr., P, Dauphin, Manitoba) got the start and went 2.1 innings, giving up eight runs, five of them earned, on eight hits. Fafard would suffer the loss as UMC fell 13-2, falling to 0-4 on the season.
Trujillo also pitched game two for the Marauders, and would go five innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits. Trujillo has an 11-3 mark for U-Mary this season.
The Golden Eagles will get back to play April 6 against Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. and April 7 versus Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb.
