Matt McClure shot a 74 and a 71 for UMC to finish one-over-par for the tournament.
Sophomore Matt McClure (Grand Rapids, Minn.) tied for fourth place as the Minnesota Crookston men’s golf team finished fifth out of 12 teams at the Wayne State Spring Invite in Wayne, Neb.
Minnesota State turned in a team score of 585 for nine-over-par to earn the team victory. Michael Colgate of Nebraska-Kearney earned the individual victory after shooting two rounds of 70 to finish four-under-par for the tournament.
McClure shot a 74 and a 71 for UMC to finish one-over-par for the tournament. Jesse Roscoe (So., Big Stone City, S.D.) turned in two rounds of 73 to finish two-over-par and in a tie for sixth place. Michael Roedl (R-Fr., Minneapolis, Minn.) turned in a 74 and a 77 over the two days to finish seven-over-par and in a tie for 25th place. Blake Held (So., Cold Spring, Minn.) shot a 75 and a 79 in two days to finish 10-over-par and in a tie for 35th place. Seth Heppner (So., Crookston, Minn.) finished with a 83 on day two to go with his 79 on day one to finish the tournament 18-over-par.
The UMC men's golf team will head to the Upper Iowa Invite at the Preserve on Rathbun Lake Golf Course at Honey Creek Resort State Park in Moravia, Iowa April 7-8.
