What services are provided, where and when being modified.

    Since its inception, Polk County Public Health has been a valuable local resource, providing disease prevention services and promoting general good health to county residents. In order to better serve the area population, Polk County Public Health will be adapting their hours of operation, effective April 1.

    "We currently have staff members who serve the public in Crookston, East Grand Forks and McIntosh and assuring quality and accessibility to health serivces is highly valued at Polk County Public Health," said Sarah Reese, Polk County Public Health director. "To streamline the efficiency of health screenings and disease prevention, our staff will be providing services through all three locations. Some services, however, are available only by appointment due to the nature of the service being provided."

    The new schedule is as follows:
    •    Crookston - Services available every Tuesday from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
    •    East Grand Forks - Services available the second the fourth Wednesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
    •    McIntosh- Services available the first and third Thursday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.

    Immunizations for children and adults will be available during these times, but it is recommended that interested persons call first for vaccine availability. Additional services offered during the new schedule include:
    •    TB skin testing
    •    Blood lead testing
    •    Dental varnish/floride treatments
    •    Cholesterol screenings
    •    Blood pressure checks
    •    Hemoglobin testing
    •    Blood sugar screenings
    •    Flu shots
    •    Height and weight checks , including baby weight checks
    •    Hearing and vision screening
    •    Select family planning/reproductive health services

    Each Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., a comprehensive family planning clinic will be provided at the Crookston office by appointment. This includes contraceptives, STI diagnosis and treatment, pregnancy testing, gynecological exams, counseling, education and referrals. Additional Crookston family planning walk-in hours are scheduled Monday and Thursday from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
